How to Thrive as a Generator

On a call with a mom recently - she said “I feel like I can’t ever put myself first. I feel like I need to ask if it’s okay for me to go do something for me or spend money on myself” - even though she with her own successful career.

WOH.

I felt her frustration and exhaustion.

It made sense. I knew the feeling well. And I’ve heard it so many times before - especially from Generators and ManGens.

Do you know that feeling?

When you were little, were you celebrated for doing things others wanted for you?

Does this sound famliar?

You go to the event because your Mom asked, or you sign up for the class because your Dad liked it, or you wore it because they said to - then afterwards got your atta-girl or atta-boy.

If you felt like you had to make everyone else happy or do what everyone else wanted of you to be accepted, to be a good person - then how could it not feel scary to put yourself first?

Your true path to fulfillment comes from putting yourself first. When you choose to do the things that fill you up - you attract what’s meant for you and stay connected to the real you.

As a Generator - you are a beacon of positive energy + inspiration.

You inspire others and create positive energy for yourself and those around you when doing what you love. When you trust your gut and respond to anything in life that gives you a full body YES - it energizes you and everyone around you.

You are ruled by your gut.

Keep in mind:

  • if you have an Emotional Authority as a Generator - it’s not as simple as full body yes or no.

  • Gut and Instinct are different in terms of Human Design.

Gut refers to the physical sensation in the body responding to life - the feeling of being pulled towards what you want in life.

A full body yes gut response is a squeal, jump, physical pull towards any opportunity, experience, person, … that piques your desires.

A full body yes (squeal, chills, guttural pull towards life) connects you to what your Soul desires and aligns you with the most flow in your life.

If it’s not a full-body yes, it’s a no.

A “no” may look like hesitation, “should’s”, heaviness, doubt, or even a neutral ‘take it or leave’ it feeling.

When you’re in alignment, you will feel true satisfaction - a feeling of your soul being satisfied and happy.

If you notice yourself frustrated, exhausted or depleted - notice what you’re doing in your life.

Be aware of what you’ve said YES to that was really a NO.

If you feel like you don’t know what you want - pay attention to what you’re jealous of. Sounds nuts - but underneath that jealousy is a desire for yourself. Get out of the emotion and into the true want. Why are you jealous? What about their life do you want?

Your desires aren’t selfish. They’re connected to your true purpose.

If you’re depleted, you can’t be your real self.
